in an interesting encounter, i stumbled into a new friendship about a month ago. i love hanging out con mi amigo. he is incredibly easy going and so fun to be around. i would even call him unpredictable (: anyways, met him at his place of employment (starbucks). thank you starbucks!

the Viper Room | Hollywood, California
i took a trip to LA with my friend becca (a more in depth post about the trip coming soon!) at the end of august. it was the first time there for both of us and it was wonderful. Johnny Depp owns The Viper Room in Hollywood and needless to say...we found it. i was a little obsessed and took quite a few pictures. these are my favorites.

Gulf Shores to New Orleans
so with this post i am pushing a month past its occurrence. man, am i on top of things!! ha ha.
we had a great family vacation this year. the itinerary included gulf shores, alabama (which was a first for us) and new orleans. we stayed in a house in gulf shores with the gambill's, some great friends we have known forever. we did the relaxing beach thing, laying out, reading, listening to music on the beach, swimming, eating out almost every night. it was great. then on to new orleans...
the first night in new orleans, my family went out to eat at ralph and cacoo's. my parents had been there 20+ years ago, but it was the first time in NOLA for the kiddos (: and it was really good.
after supper, the family walked down bourbon street. what a spectacle!! it was really funny because my ultra conservative dad had this look on his face like we had stepped into hell or something and my little brother looked like a guilty kid you caught doing something bad. it was great but eye opening for my conservative family (:
cafe du monde was a must for our time in new orleans. we went there for breakfast, sat and people watched while eating beignets and drinking cafe au lait. delightful.
a swamp tour with captain jack and aligator sightings followed. pretty cool. the day we left, we got up and went to new orleans cemetary number 1. it was really interesting but kind of eery. all the coffins are buried above ground in mausolems because of the sea level. dad wanted to take our picture there, which we all thought was weird. but the picture turned out pretty funny because we all look mad in it. ha ha!!
it was a great trip.
