You've Got a Friend in Me...

in an interesting encounter, i stumbled into a new friendship about a month ago. i love hanging out con mi amigo. he is incredibly easy going and so fun to be around. i would even call him unpredictable (: anyways, met him at his place of employment (starbucks). thank you starbucks!

"And soon they were inseparable."

okay, so i'm really not THAT cheesy but this quote from the Notebook came to mind when i posted this picture. ha ha!!

the Viper Room | Hollywood, California

i took a trip to LA with my friend becca (a more in depth post about the trip coming soon!) at the end of august. it was the first time there for both of us and it was wonderful. Johnny Depp owns The Viper Room in Hollywood and needless to say...we found it. i was a little obsessed and took quite a few pictures. these are my favorites.

Gulf Shores to New Orleans

so with this post i am pushing a month past its occurrence. man, am i on top of things!! ha ha.

we had a great family vacation this year. the itinerary included gulf shores, alabama (which was a first for us) and new orleans. we stayed in a house in gulf shores with the gambill's, some great friends we have known forever. we did the relaxing beach thing, laying out, reading, listening to music on the beach, swimming, eating out almost every night. it was great. then on to new orleans...

the first night in new orleans, my family went out to eat at ralph and cacoo's. my parents had been there 20+ years ago, but it was the first time in NOLA for the kiddos (: and it was really good.

after supper, the family walked down bourbon street. what a spectacle!! it was really funny because my ultra conservative dad had this look on his face like we had stepped into hell or something and my little brother looked like a guilty kid you caught doing something bad. it was great but eye opening for my conservative family (:

cafe du monde was a must for our time in new orleans. we went there for breakfast, sat and people watched while eating beignets and drinking cafe au lait. delightful.

a swamp tour with captain jack and aligator sightings followed. pretty cool. the day we left, we got up and went to new orleans cemetary number 1. it was really interesting but kind of eery. all the coffins are buried above ground in mausolems because of the sea level. dad wanted to take our picture there, which we all thought was weird. but the picture turned out pretty funny because we all look mad in it. ha ha!!

it was a great trip.

Feeling Jonasy

you will have to forgive me. i am posting twice in one day. how annoying, right??

anyways, this recollection takes place on july 29, 2009. jonas brothers concert : KCMO.

my sister and i decided to leave at 4.30 in the morning and drive to KC with an arrival time of approvimately 8am. our intention was to wait outside the sprint center until the jobros showed up...however long it took.

so we did it, and upon our arrival we met 2 new friends. sarah and cydney arrived at 7am and quickly befriended us. so as we waited, more and more fans began to arrive. we staked our claims on the prime spots for optimal jonas viewing. their tour bus arrived around 11 and we freaked out!! it was a much needed break. we crossed the street to sign it. finally, around 2 they set up rails to keep us from rushing. the guys didn't get there until 3.30!! but it was so worth the 7+ hour wait. we never saw joe get out of the van but kev and nick did as well as big rob. they both waved. nick came out a 2nd time and waved at us all again!! it was h.e.a.v.e.n.

then we went with our new friends to a pizza place and all ordered the jonas brothers special. we met back up with them before the concert in line. i snuck my nikon in with my mom's zoom lense and got some great pictures!! it was so much fun (:

Too Much Fun?

it's official. i have been having entirely too much fun as of late.

2nd jonas brothers concert of the summer. family vacay to gulf shores + new orleans. trip to st. louis. trip to la la land.

and i will share more details and pictures when i have more time.

I found Jesus on the Hill

oh blogspot. it has been so very long. i was attempting to post a picture every day for the duration of a year (aka 365 days) in an effort to improve the quality and amounts of pictures i take. however, while i have been taking mass amounts of picture, it has come to my attention that posting the pictures every day is a time consuming endeavor. so all the good intentions are ending...NOW... (:

on another subject, the past 3 weeks have been filled to the brim with fun and outdoor adventures. i hope to recap some of the merriment on a later date + pictures.

but for now...i went with kelsey to eureka on monday. it was quite fun. such a strange little town. there was some shopping + lots of picture taking + a picnic + finding Jesus on the hill. we both purchased some funky little earrings that came with a card that read ...

"The Tagua Nut - 'vegetable ivory'

Deep in the Amazon Rainforest grows a special tree, the Tagua or Ivory Palm. It produces an extraordinary fruit, the Tagua nut, which has been used to make buttons, jewelry and carved objects since the 19th century.

Enjoy this Tagua product knowing that its purchase supports the employment of 35,000 native people. The income received from Tagua crops is a strong incentive to maintain the trees. This helps stabilize the Rainforest and, ultimately, World environments."

pretty cool (:
